As a Toolmaker (m/w/d), you’ll manufacture and maintain high-precision tools and fixtures that are essential to our production. You’ll ensure that every detail fits perfectly — from the first cut to the final inspection. With your manual skills and technical understanding, you’ll help keep our production running smoothly and ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards.

Toolmakers are our specialists in precision forming, cutting and stamping tools, as well as fixtures, gauges and templates, and measuring and testing devices.
You’ll produce and machine tools, molds, and fixtures that will play a key role in our production. You’ll develop complex tools, manufacture individual parts, assemble them, and ensure that everything works flawlessly. You’ll be involved in planning, support assembly and commissioning, and act as the expert during ongoing production — from maintenance to repair.
Step by step through the apprenticeship
In your first year, you’ll learn how to handle key materials such as steel and aluminum. You’ll gain basic machining skills and get to know key manufacturing processes. You’ll also familiarize yourself with the structure, design, and production of typical BENTELER tools — the foundation for your future work as a Toolmaker.
In your second year, you’ll apply your growing knowledge in the various toolmaking departments at BENTELER. You’ll get to know numerous different applications and prove yourself for the first time in real projects assignments. You’ll also take part in specific module courses that will prepare you for your time in specialist departments and for the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) exam.
In your third year, you’ll develop and build tools independently — and as part of a team. You’ll take on more responsibility and work on more complex toolmaking assignments. You’ll also have the chance to gain additional qualifications and specialize further through technical courses.
In your final year, you’ll prepare intensively for your final exam. You’ll gain extensive practical experience, take on increasing responsibility, and get to know the department where you could later continue your career after completing your training. You’ll be able to share your preferences in advance — and together we’ll explore your options. You’ll also receive targeted exam preparation.

At BENTELER, we train for our own workforce needs. That means: if your performance is strong and you’re committed during your apprenticeship, you have excellent chances of being hired afterward and launching your career with us.
You’ll need a motivation letter, your résumé, and at least your two most recent school reports. If you’ve completed internships or have certificates – perfect! Upload them as well. They help us understand your experience and strengths.
Absolutely! You can apply even if your final report card isn’t available yet. In that case, simply send us your most recent mid-year reports. You can upload your final certificate later if we need it.
