As a Mechatronics Technician (m/f/x), you’ll work in production and maintenance on modern machines, equipment, and systems. You’ll monitor technical processes, analyze malfunctions, and ensure — independently or as part of a team — that everything runs smoothly. You’ll also be involved in the continuous optimization of our machine and equipment performance.
You’ll keep production running!
You’ll keep production running!
As a Mechatronics Technician (m/f/x) at BENTELER, you’ll work on highly automated production systems that demand maximum precision and efficiency. You’ll connect mechanical components with modern control technology and ensure that our manufacturing processes operate at their best. You’ll install software, commission new systems, and document technical workflows with care. You’ll also be involved in modifications and technical improvements — your expertise will directly contribute to the further development of our production standards. With your technical understanding and curiosity for modern technologies, you’ll make an important contribution to the quality of our products every day.
Step by step through the apprenticeship
You’ll begin with a solid technical foundation — both theoretical and practical — in our in-house training workshop. Here you’ll learn the basics of metalworking: filing, sawing, drilling, and milling. In doing so, you’ll work with different materials and measuring tools and learn how to handle equipment safely. Reading technical drawings, safety fundamentals, and core mechanical principles will round out your introduction to the profession.
In your second year, you’ll move deeper into hands-on practice. You’ll expand your manufacturing skills and explore more advanced electrical engineering topics. You’ll also learn how hydraulic and pneumatic systems work — an essential part of working with machines and automated equipment later on. In parallel, you’ll be integrated into various production areas, where you’ll manufacture components independently based on drawings and support the maintenance team.
During your third year, you’ll take on increasingly complex assignments. You’ll work on full assemblies and complete machines, perform mechanical and electrical adjustments, and support commissioning activities both in the plant and occasionally at customer sites. You’ll also learn how to identify faults and troubleshoot them independently. Robotics becomes another key focus: through a dedicated introductory course, you’ll explore the basics of modern automation.
In your final six to twelve months, you’ll deepen your expertise and may specialize in a specific area based on your interests. You’ll work more autonomously, take on responsibility during commissioning processes, and actively support day-to-day operations. At the same time, you’ll prepare intensively for your final exam, which includes both theoretical and practical components.
